Greetings from Under the Arch
This week in Galway leans eclectic. The Town Hall is busy from Tuesday with a cabaret musical, a violin virtuoso and a comedy dinner party, the Skate Festival takes over Eyre Square and the Millennium park all weekend, and the Róisín has comedy on Tuesday and a solid gig on Sunday.
Add an ABBA tribute, a coastal wildlife morning out at Grattan Beach, full moon yoga in Salthill, and a current exhibition at 126, and there is a reason to be out most evenings.
This is our pick of what's on in Galway this week. As always for a full event list check out the link at the bottom of the email.
Let's dive in 👇
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
0800 Cupid
Tuesday 23 June · 20:00 · Town Hall Theatre
THISISPOPBABY rarely make anything quiet, and this is cabaret star Emer Dineen and director Phillip McMahon swinging for the fences: a musical odyssey through love and loneliness, eighty minutes with no interval and no off switch. It has been touring the country picking up exactly the kind of word of mouth that fills rooms. 14+, and bring the energy it's going to throw back at you.

Galway Skate Festival 2026
Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June · Eyre Square and Millennium Skate Park
The sixth edition of Ireland's only skateboard festival, and it is completely free. Comps, races, best-trick contests, dedicated girl, queer and trans sessions, lessons for anyone starting out, and the legendary Cash Money Game of Skate to close it on Sunday. Live music every night and a pub quiz off the board. You do not need to own a deck to have a good weekend at this.
Vladimir Jablokov: Up Close
Wednesday 24 June · 20:00 · Town Hall Theatre
A street busker who fought his way to headlining the 3Arena three years running, Jablokov is back after last year sold out, this time joined by his sister, pianist Olga Jablokov. The programme runs from Flight of the Bumblebee to Libertango to Danny Boy, threaded with stories between the pieces. Closer to an evening with the man than a recital, which is the whole point of the title.
Lazember + In Athens
Sunday 28 June · 21:00 · Róisín Dubh
An alternative rock bill with Donegal's Lazember alongside In Athens. A Sunday-night gig at the Róisín is one of the more dependable pleasures this city offers. Show up curious.

The Bjorn Identity: Tribute to ABBA
Friday 26 June · Town Hall Theatre
A note-for-note ABBA night that takes its job seriously, which is more than most tribute acts manage. If "Dancing Queen" at full volume with a room full of strangers sounds like your Friday, you already know.
Pry by Avril Corroon
Tuesday 23 to Sunday 28 June · 126 Artist-Run Gallery
A new show from Avril Corroon, an artist who works across film, sculpture and performance and tends to aim her absurd humour squarely at money, power and who gets left out. 126 is artist-run and free in, the kind of small gallery that punches well above its size. Worth twenty minutes off Woodquay.

Tuesday Comedy Showcase with Maureen Langan
Tuesday 23 June · 21:00 · Róisín Dubh
The weekly comedy showcase headlined this week by Maureen Langan, the New York stand-up with a sharp line in political material. The Róisín back room is the right size for comedy, close enough that nobody hides in the back.
Arthur and Donal's Big Night Out
Thursday 25 June · Town Hall Theatre
Part dinner party, part comedy show, part karaoke disco, hosted by Arthur and Donal. Hard to categorise and probably better for it. Go in without expectations.
The Fool
Tuesday 23 June · Town Hall Theatre
A non-linear look at limerence inside a friendship, tracing the tangled bond between Peter and Hazel. New theatre on the studio stage, the sort of thing you can say you saw early.

Air Clay Modelling Workshop
Friday 26 June · 15:30 · Galway City Library
A hands-on session for kids aged 7 to 12 to make a sculpture they take home with them. Free, but you need to book a place ahead.
Beach Activity: Meet Our Coastal Wildlife
Saturday 27 June · 10:00 · Grattan Beach
Galway Atlantaquaria and the City Museum down on Grattan Beach showing kids what actually lives along the shore. Free, outdoors, and the rare educational morning that doesn't feel like school.

Full Moon Yoga
Sunday 28 June · 18:00 · Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club
An outdoor evening session timed to the full moon, out at the GAA grounds in Salthill. A calm way to close the weekend before the week starts again.

Bulmers is Bringing Back Italia '90: Live with Packie Bonner
Thursday 25 June · 18:00 · O'Connell's Bar
An evening with the goalkeeper whose penalty save against Romania still gets grown adults emotional, reliving the summer the whole country lost the run of itself. If you remember where you were that day, this one is for you.
