This week in Galway (4–12 May), the Galway Theatre Festival gives the earlier part of the week some weight, and Wednesday has a good few options. Don't Tell Dad About Diana is at the Town Hall on Wednesday night. Thursday brings The Four Seasons to St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, which is about as fitting a pairing as you'll find. And Saturday has Steven Sharpe performing Grace live at Róisín Dubh and Leon Stax launching his album at The Loft at Seven.

Don't Tell Dad About Diana

A comedy about friendship and identity set in 1997 Dublin - the backdrop being Princess Diana's death, which tells you something about the tone. Fast-paced, built around the specific anxiety of that particular moment in time.
Galway Theatre Festival 2026
Ongoing through Saturday 9 May. Venues across Galway city
The Galway Theatre Festival is in its final stretch this week, running through Saturday with public performances from both local and visiting theatre artists at venues across the city.
Grace by Jeff Buckley - Live by Steven Sharpe
Saturday 9 May. 6:00pm. Róisín Dubh Tickets and Info.
Steven Sharpe and his band perform Jeff Buckley's Grace album live at Róisín Dubh on Saturday evening. Tribute shows are hit-or-miss, but this one has a specific focus - one complete album - which tends to produce something more cohesive than a best-of set. Check Róisín Dubh for tickets.
The Four Seasons - The Luminosa String Orchestra

The Luminosa String Orchestra performing Vivaldi's Four Seasons at St Nicholas' Collegiate Church on Thursday evening. A combination that's fairly hard to get wrong.

Leon Stax - Album Launch Tour
Saturday 9 May. 8:00pm–midnight. The Loft at Seven, Galway City Centre
Leon Stax launches his album In View at The Loft at Seven on Saturday night - an intimate four-hour set with support from Cherry Pickers and Entertainment Purposes. Galway-based band, original songs, small room. It should be a good one!
Artclub - May The Fourth at Massimo

Artclub's regular creative evening at Massimo this Wednesday, with a May the Fourth theme. If you fancy trying something new this would be worth a look
Revolution in Galway / SUPERHUMAN (Galway City Museum)

Two exhibitions running concurrently at the Galway City Museum on Spanish Parade: Revolution in Galway (the county's revolutionary history through artefacts and stories) and SUPERHUMAN (exploring the concept of human limits and their cultural impact).

Africa Day Galway
Saturday 9 May. 14:00. Tuam Palace Grounds
Africa Day takes over Tuam Palace Grounds this Saturday with music, dance, food, and cultural demonstrations. Free entry, family-friendly, from 2pm.
Darkness Into Light
Sunday 10 May. 03:45
The Darkness Into Light walk starts at 3:45am in Galway this Sunday morning. A Pieta charity event raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. The Galway City Social meetup page has the details for joining the group.
